Online purchase by credit card is a simple and safe system: in fact, at the time of payment you will be directed to the PayPal site and your credit card details are transmitted in encrypted form to PayPal, a company specialized in online payments. In this way, no one can access your credit card codes.
The transmission of data related to credit cards uses the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Secure Server, a protocol that includes the best techniques for encrypting information, so that your personal and credit card data are sent over the Internet in a completely secure way.
The use of an SSL secure server by the user is possible, in a completely transparent way, using a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox in their latest versions. These programs can communicate in an encrypted way with the Secure Server for verification/check.
Different types of security information are available, depending on the browser you use:
Internet Explorer displays the image of the closed lock in the bottom right of the window and makes information on the SSL Certificate (Certification Authority, dates of issue, expiry date, etc..) available in the dedicated menu option.
Firefox displays the image of the closed lock in the bottom left of the window and makes information on the SSL Certificate (Certification Authority, dates of issue, expiry date, etc..) available using the appropriate button on the menu.
In practice, after having selected payment by credit card, you go to/access a page that allows you to enter and send your data to the SSL Secure Server. Access to SSL Secure Server occurs only when data are actually sent.
